are the polarities correct? positive to positive and negative to negative?
do you have a pinch in the wiring?
any strands exposed in the wires (possibly at the amp itself)?

its the receiver. each receiver has its own amplifier, and some per channel, room, it just depends on what model you have.

what model receiver do you have?

the amps are internal, i would not suggest you attempt to open it and explore inside.
give me the model number of your avr so i can run a search on it. so then maybe i can help out a bit more.

suggest trying a new run of cables....this will rule out any frayed or broken wires in what you are using now......you "are" running each speaker with its own wire I hope!...ie; not daisey chaining them in any way???? sorry had to ask! you said (A long cord)the two front speakers connect to back of amp in the front left and right inputs...check you get the polarity right....ie;+ to+ and - to -
ok..now connect rear speakers to the outputs marked rear surround the same as you did for the front set.....all with seperate wires! ...do you have a centre speaker....? this sits under your tv screen....and is connected to the amp marked centre channel.....now to the speakers you are using...are they compatible with your amp? check they are not under powered...this could cause problems with cutting out ect,....go into the menu on your amp and select the right type of speaker...ie micro...small....large....
