Hey guys, i was hoping someone could help me on this video capture problem.

I bought a Spirit PC TV Tuner to capture video tapes into .avi format. I used the software provided in the box (PCI TV Tuner software) but the resulting .avi files are very choppy. So I tried using Dr. DivX to do the live capture. This almost worked, except the .avi file is out of sync. The audio is a couple seconds out of sync with the video. I spent hours and hours trying to find a solution, without success. Should I use a different software, perhaps?

thanks~

Sync problems are generally Caused from One of 2 Things or a Combination of the Two....

The First think that will cause Sync Problems is Dropped Frames, When your PC is either to Slow to compress all the Frames in Real Time or Your hard Drive is too slow to Record all of the Frames some Frames will get Dropped and this will cause sync problems....

Another thing that will cause Sync problems is the Time Lag between your Capture Card which is Captureing the Video and your sound Card that is Recording the audio....The Clock that Keeps Time in the Capture Card and the Clock that Keeps Time in the Sound Card will usually tend to drift apart over the Length of a Capture which will cause the File to Gradually go out of Sync.....

Most AVI Capture Software should have a setting in it were you can select the "Master Stream" and if it does you should select the "Video" as the Master stream which should Help keep Sync....

also you Might try some Mpeg Capture Software as they Generally have a Good Method for Keeping Sync, I personally recomend "InterVideo WinDVR 3.0" for Good Quality captures that stay in Sync....

Cheers
