Hello,

I am looking to buy some media to back up my games (legally of course!). After looking on ebay there are some good deals, some of the cds saying they are grade a but i aint too sure if there telling the truth. What do you think? Any of you used these?

Izodisc DVD-R

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DVD-R-A-Grade-8x-Full-Face-Hub-Printable-25...

Ridisk DVD-R

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/25-RIDSC-8x-DVD-R-PRINTABLE-BLANK-DISCS-GRA...

Are these any good? If not, do any of you know any sites to get some good quality disks for a bargain?

Thanks in advance.

i don't live in the UK, but, from your ebay listings you linked...DO NOT BUY FROM EBAY for media, PERIOD~ :)

over on that side of the shore, i believe the most reputable dealer for media is SVP in the UK~ gurnard and creaky both highly rate this place as reputable with fair shipping costs and good pricing on the media itself~ :)

i would get me some of the Verbatim TYs that i hear about so often over there...they are Verbatim branded but manufactured by Taiyo Yuden~

good luck, do yourself a favor, DO NOT BUY from ebay~ most of them out there are just trying to dump LOW QUALITY media at an "amazing price" to lure you into spending money with them; there are a LOT of FAKE Taiyo Yudens out there too and they are just banking on the fact that most consumers have no idea about anything before they buy, don't be fooled by them shady sellers...trust me on this one, i'm looking out for you.

Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

nice catch by the doc there; indeed, stay away from eBay when it comes to blank media.

eBay is great for most things but don't use it for media, especially when there's bargains such as this from www.svp.co.uk - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/229523

hi, they're only -R in the Verb TY - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/229523

latest prices for these -
Quote:
{DV 3309} Verbatim (Taiyo Yuden) 8x DVD-R in Spindle Tubs of 25
Verbatim have entrusted the manufacture of the disc to the world renowned Taiyo Yuden factory.

ADVDInfo: TYG02

SVP Price: £6.70 / Euro 9.88 inc VAT.
Equivalent Retail Price Per Disc: 26.8p
i'll have a quick look in the +R section but i think we just get the -R in the Verb TY flavour...

edit - they do have some new stuff in the +R discs -
Quote:
{DV 3203} Verbatim (8x) DVD+R Disc in Spindle Tubs of 25
This is the typical high quality you would expect from Verbatim in a DVD+R disc.

ADVDInfo: MCC 003 / YUDEN000T02

SVP Price: £6.99 / Euro 10.32 inc VAT.
Equivalent Retail Price Per Disc: 28.0p
- that sounds ok i think ?

...though i'm just gonna buy a shedload of the -R Verb TY as i'm so impressed with them....
