http://covetime.com/modshop/ps2_sm_slide.php well it appears i don't have that screw there and i don't know how to remove the front cover. i have a V5/V6 (haven't pulled it apart yet to tell the difference..) and here are some screenshots of the under side of the disc drive of the ps2

You can just skip that step and start on 2. Your PS2 doesn't have the screw in the corner, but it is still "clamped" on the sides. You'll just have to remove one side and then it will pull right out. Be careful...those clamp things can snap off real easy!
