i just downloaded king kong, but in PAL format. i have the swap magic 3.6 disk for my slim ps2 and burned the iso onto a dvd. it boots up just fine, however, the image is continuously flickering and will not stop. is there anyway that this can be fixed?

your problems are happening because you're trying to play PAL game on an NTSC system (including your NTSC tv). usually PAL games fuck up even after being converted to NTSC, (screen cut off, etc. I havbe not had success making the screen of a PAL game center properly without ingame screen postioning options.) so, you either live with it and play the game with the screen cut off or get the NTSC version of the game.

it has nothing to do with different versions (i.e. PAL, ntsc) just burn at 8x with Nero and it should be fine. mine was. still cant understand why people use Alcohol 120 its a pile of c**P i have never been able to burn a game with it properly yet. if u dont like Nero then use ashampoo burning studio 5 its just as good

Those having screen problems with the game, should PM me their email address, and I will send a PAL-NTSC YFiX patcher, so the video mode is fixed, the screen will be centred.. etc.

It does have to do with the version. Here's your fix. Can't get any easier. First, why people are using any other programs besides DVD Decrypter, is beyond me. DVD Decrypter is free, painless, and it works without any problems at all. Plus, you probably have it on your computer if you've ever made a backup of anything.

You need to get one more thing to solve all PAL to NTSC problems. its' a program that can be found here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/121718 now, when you go to this link, it will show you how to convert downloaded PAL games to NTSC. this won't work for king kong....the centering will still be off. you must do what the link i gave you tells you, and then you must also check off the box on the bottom of that conversion program. this will add another screen to the game when it loads up. when you get this screen on the ps2, you'll have to hit a button on your controller (the cross button on the controller, it will fix the y-fix). so, what you've just done is patched the iso file and added a pn selector. that seems to be the only thing that works for this particular backup game. if you have time and blank discs to waste, you can instead play around withthat number - the yfix offset number, that could center the picture better, but what i told you seems to work just fine. you might have a tiny bit cut off, but it's almost perfect considering. of course, this should be used only with backups when you already own the game.

in case you're a dumbass, DVD Decrypter directions:
put in the game
read the image onto your harddrive
burn the image onto a disc
done

patch if you need to convert

What kind of DVD Media are you using? Avoid cheap media, and go for some high quality discs. Tuiyo Yuden, Verbatim, TDK, Maxell etc.
