Here I have to inform you about some tests I did...
If you use "Intervideo's DVD Creator 2"... I can explain what the "smart render" do exactly.
If you activate ?smart render??
1...and the program you want to burn has duration almost 75 min and you choose to burn a DVD with High Quality (1 Hour DVD), the render process happens in just a few minutes ( for 75 min program the render takes about 10 minutes). In the preview window you see only the beginning and the end of the chapters. You don?t see all the chapters. Just the beginning and the end.
2...and the program has duration more than 75 min and you decide to burn a DVD with High Quality (1 Hour DVD), then there are two possibilities. The one is two render in real time all the project. (this will take you more than 76 minutes). The second possibility is to render only the beginning and the end of each chapter, but in a chapter that it will decide be its own, it will begin to render in real time, until the end of the program (you have on the timeline).
3..and the program has duration 2 hours and you decide to burn a DVD with High Quality (1 Hour DVD) you will face different problems. You see, the program let you burn a 2 hour program in a ?One Hour DVD with High Quality? Sometimes, I get inverted colors in menu, program and chapters, sometimes I get one photo (usually of the 1st chapter) instead of the photos of the next chapters. Sometimes, I don?t have picture in some chapters.
If you don?t activate ?Smart Render? and you want to render a program les than 75 minute, you will get the render but in a slow motion (and not real time). It tooks me about 6 hours for rendering a 2 hours program.
The final conclusion is that?. ?Always activation of smart render?, and if the project on the timeline is about 1 hour, then for sure choose ?One Hour High quality DVD?.
If your program on the timeline exceeds 76 minutes, then for sure you have to choose the render and burning of a DVD in ?2 Hours Standard Quality DVD?.
