I have a family vacation to Disney coming up and I have a Sharp VL-AH151U Hi8 recorder. I would like to make a DVD when I get back. First off, I am pretty computer literate but I'm not sure how to go about this. My camcorder has no S-Video port, only a place for A/V and the power source. For playback, you have to hook it up to the TV, there is no VHS tape to put the smaller tape into. Any suggestions on how I can go about getting the video to my computer for editing? thanks in advance.

If you Can Connect it to your TV set then you would also Connect it to your PC the Same way....

There Might also be an Audio/Video Output that Looks Like a Mini Din Jack (Looks Like a Small Headphone Jack) and this A/V Output requires you to attach an adapter Cable into it and that Cable has the RCA/Composite Outputs on it that you connect to your PC"s Video Capture Card and Line in on Yer Sound Card....My DV Camcorder Hooks up to my TV set that way.....

Also the Most important thing is that you have to have some Sort of Video Capture device installed in your PC so you can get the Video to your Hard Drive.....

I've heard alot about the Pinnacle Studio package. Is that the best that's out there. From what I've read it's pretty buggy, so I don't know which one to get. Thanks for the help.

Pinnacle Studio 9 is a Pretty Consumer Friendly and Basic Video editor...It doesn"t have the advanced Features that Other editors Like Vegas 6 or Premier and it"s Mpeg-2/DVD encodeing isn"t the best and it"s DVD authoring is Pretty limited but I guess if you are doing Fairly basic stuff then it is all you need...

I didn"t like it Because The Video capture Options were very Limited and I had Sync problems with the Captured Files and it seems to Freeze up or Crash quite often....There is a New Pinnacle Studio 10 that is Supposed to be more Feature rich but I haven"t gotten arround to installing it on My PC yet so I don"t know how good it is....

Cheers
