Ok, have you played any games on mechassault and saved them when you got done playing? That might be one reason why you cant get to your linux screen. Also, you might want to try hitting your eject button when you go to turn on your xbox. If you installed it right, that should get you to your linux installer. Then when you get to the installer, all you have to do is hit restore ms backup (or something along those lines).
On the other hand, if the reason why you are trying to uninstall it is b/c you cant get on live...I know of tutorial that explains how. Some people get it to work, others dont...so I guess it all depends on how lucky and/or how well you work w/ electronics. The tutorial is at 2 sites that I can think of and if you want more help with modding, I'll descripe each site:
www.teammodders.com - Good for hard modding troubleshooting but does have a good softmodding section as well.
www.se7en-sins.tk - Good for softmodding and halo 2 modding.
Try teammodders at first, they have wonderful guys on their staff and would LOVE to help you. They've always been friendly with everyone. If you cant find what you need...or if you get on live and want to look more into how to add apps to your softmod or how to mod halo 2, then try se7en-sins. Also, another great site for modding your xbox (def not halo 2 tho) would be www.xbox-scene.com. The only complaint I have about that site would have to be how friendly the community as a whole is there. Some people are stuck up snobs and will call you a n00b...others will know what you are going thru being a new comer and help you out til you get your problem fixed... I would go there as a last resort, but its up to you.
