mc exploit Hdd and mode 4???

i have a v7 ps2 and a quantum <--bad spelling fireball 20 gig hd am un modded and using the mc exploit with ps2 HDD menu with the harddrive out i have no prob it boots the exploit and i can use the elfs but with the hd in it loads the exploit and then goes to a grey screen that just says it is currently using mode 4
what does that mean and how do i get to my elfs? i want to run hdloader just dont know how anyone that can help i would be thankful

well i found the answer for anyone with this problem its the menu program just change to a diffrent progam and it should fix it
