Nero is not recognising DRU500a all the time

I have downloaded and installed the latest Nero ( i noted the cdrom.cfg is dated 12/08/2002 and has not got parameters in for the DRU500a.)
If i put a Nero test cd in the drive before starting Nero it recognises it and i burn successfully.
If i put the disk in after starting Nero it doesnt see the drive which is an ide.
A long time ago i used the Test CD and found resulting Parameters for a drive and added them to the cdrom.cfg i recall. But i dont see how to do this with the current version. (551007)
I have asked Nero support for help but its sadly lacking.
Is it possible someone could post the parameters for the drive?
