I'm thinking of modding a ps2. I can get a v1,v5 or slim. What would be the best model to install a Matrix infinity? I want to install a hard drive to run homebrew/backups. The matrix supports a HD now, right? It sounds like most chips do. If you could build an ideal setup, what would it be (chip, ps2 version, software ect)? Also, does the ps2 have 'dash' software?

from the options you have I'd go with the V5. I'm not into the xbox scene at all so eventhough I've heard of xboxes having a "dash" I don't know what it is and doubt the ps2 has one.

That's almost exactly what someone else said in a different forum. He mentioned a v7 in an ideal build. What model ps2 and chip would you use if you had your choice? I may try to get a v7 or v9 instead and if possible.

As far as the dash, looks like HDL has what could be considered a "dash". It's basically a screen that lets you select different functionality/apps and files.

a dash would sorta be like an OS then? If I had my choice then I'd also go for a V7 as for the mod, I'd go for the dms4, matrix infinity or duo2se (duo2se only because I wouldn't need all the extra features of the other 2 but, this is personal preferance and because it doesn't have all the extra features it's cheaper as well).

A dash is an application that acts a lot like an OS.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll see if I can get a v7. The v9 and v10 seem to enable features on certain chips that aren?t available on the v7 or any other model; mainly the ability to play certain ps1 backups but that wouldn't affect my needs. You are not the first to mention the v7 as the best choice. What is the reason? Is the v7 just easier to work with?

v7s seem to be the best built systems out of all the different versions.
