Ok here goes...I ripped movies to my hard drive with DVDDecrypter. Now I want to see what's the next step I should take.

What program should I use next to convert it to mpeg/avi formats? I want to be able to do this and then use another program to convert it to mpeg4 so that I can import it into my ipod.

Any help would be appreciated.

You can use "DVDtoDivX v2.0" by Cybergame2000. Their homepage was www.cybergame2000.com before, but I don't think it is any more...

The program was free, and I don't think it's impossible to find it =)

It's not very easy to understand in the beginning, and you must be good at counting aspect ratios, if you want the video to have the correct size.

If you want to rip a 90 min movie to DivX, it takes about 3 hours,
but if you want to rip to mpeg 1/2, it takes *too* damn long time.
About 12-20 hours. But I haven't tried to rip to mpeg. I've only read the estimated times.

I hope I've helped. / Thuyner.

Hi,

Also in addition to the previous post you can use autogk found in the software tab at the top of the page. http://www.rita.lt/ A link on how to use autogk. Rip the dvd with decrypter in IFO mode first as you get the movie only and don't have the trailers and other assorted junk. <--- That is the free route....keep in mind you are looking at around 2-3 hours for the whole process. imtoo dvd ripper (google search) will allow you to rip/ convert in real time to AVI or mpeg provided the dvd is not copy protected. For movies that are already ripped to your hard drive you can use imtoo to convert VOB files or ifo file (movie only) whichever is more convenient.

to burn or not to burn that is the question

- And if the movie is copy protected, just use DVD Shrink to lay the VOB-files on the hard drive, or make an .iso-file.
Making an .iso takes less time.
