Hi
im having problems with my backups, after an half-hour to 2 the disc stop spinning and i get the "An error has occurred. Turn the power off and refer to..." message. Im using Verbatim DVD-R 8x discs. My question is: should i lower the pot or increase it? my current is 265ohm.
Thanks

Lower it to a value between 170 to 210. That's the "sweet spot" range from what I've read.

mine was 148 (supposedly, from "normal wear because of the use"). Still was getting DREs ("the disc could not be read").

Try lowering it to 205 and test. Keep lowering it in 10 or 20 ohm intervals. Post your results !

I had mine set at 148 initially and as time went on it just stopped playing back-ups completely but would play originals just fine. Keep in mind that I've had it running for up to 10 hours of gameplay on Naruto 3 a few times, so that might've contributed to it.

Whether or not you have to adjust the pot is completely dependent on your lens and the brand of media you use. Some people never need to adjust the pot at all.

Full size DVD-R and mini DVD-R have nothing to do witht the pot adjustment. The only things affected are the GC's motor and your wallet.
