You don't pay tax at Supermediastore.com unless you live in California and I imagine these SONYs are not inkjet printable. That would make a difference if that's what you are looking for.

you're not even comparing the same things here... the sms sale is for white inkjet printables, and MOSt printables ALWAYS run a higher premium than your standard "store bought/regular "branded" discs~ :)
by the way, i can see you are deeply in LOVE w/ your Sony branded discs, while i do like them too as they are identical to the Fuji 8x DVD+R discs made in japan, BoTH are Taiyo Yuden manufactured, why do you promote them in like EVERY other thread when people are specifically talking about inkjet printables, verbatims, maxell, office depot, etc?
while it's a good price for them and to include them in the "weekly sale" threads or Sony related media threads is great and i support that fully, but why include your beloved Sony's in every thread when it's not even on topic? juss curious as to why you are so fervent about Sony?

Agreed, Doc ... If price is all you're lookin' at and not inkjet printable .. Look at the Office Depot discs ... 74 bones will get ya 300 discs that are either Ritek (8x) or Ricohjpn (16x) ... both are very good quality

@kivory666, No special reason, I own SONY stock "cough"....sike it's unlike any other thread and AD forum member who mentions the all too well know brands bragged about at this forum. I don't mind them so don't mind me. I've used a few brands and to date SONY has been the BEST blank media with the most consistent quality. They're also readily available at most electronics retailers on sale as I often mention.
If I sound like I'm selling well ask yourselves what you sound like always swearing by the brands of your choice this also includes popular decryption software sold over say a free programs with little difference and often better performance. Again to each his own. I enjoy being a member here reading the threads and commenting freely like anyone else. I have no interest in cliques or kronie klans though I don't mind conversation and sharing ideas with anyone who's willing. No harm intended.:)

Paradyme..... Exceptionally well stated. Each member can and will have their favorite brands. I have lurked these threads for quite a few months, but have withheld my thoughts and comments not wanting to cause a flame. Alot of the information gleaned has been helpful where some has been out in left field to be on the polite side. Your assessment is correct and as well, highly valid. Thank you.

@catfreak , hey i was wondering if those Ricohjpn (16x)office depot disks are as good as the (8x) office depot riteks?? i bought the 8x because you and a few others recommended them and you were 100% right they are very good disks:) so the million dollar question is are the 16x as good as the 8x ????? please do tell??? /unjust

no harm or offense taken, i was just curious, naturally, we ALL have the right of opinion and i don't discredit anyone for their preferences and choices in media, just go with what has worked well for YOU and your setup, and in your case, SONY~ :)
i was mearly pointing out an observation of mine throughout these media threads, you do make a valid point...on a side note, if you are currently using the SONY brand 8x DVD+R MADE iN JAPAN media, then you have inadvertently/unintentionally stepped into MY DOMAIN, as i can assure you that the MIJ 8x DVD+R Sonys are in fact manufactured by Taiyo Yuden~ :)
so, with all things considered, you are actually giving TY props when you look at the "bigger picture", as i HAVE read it really doesn't matter to YOU whether they be MIT or MIJ, BUT, IF you do in fact use the MIJ Sony 8x DVD+R media, those are NOT made by Sony at all, but rather, by my #1 choice of media, Taiyo Yuden~ :)
you can do as you wish as i have no intention of even trying to slow you down w/ Sony media, just KNOW that for you to ever "claim" Sony is better than Taiyo Yuden, when YOU YOURSELF are using Taiyo Yuden manufactured media in the 8x DVD+R format MIJ Sonys, that just makes you seem like a hypocrite/dumbass~ :)
i'm not trying to flame you, just know that SOME people on here come to me via PM regarding TY media, and he mentioned, ironically, YOUR name as to the validity of Sony's being "better" than TYs...it just doesn't make you appear to be very knowledgeable when you YOURSELF use TY media (Sony 8x DVD+R MIJ), but then tell newbies that Sony is "the best" or "better" than TY :) well, that's how HE read it at least, even if that is NOT what you implied or was trying to say...

Who cares man...Beamer or Benz...It's ones choice. I simply say, I preferr SONY as much as you prefer your brand and it seems to ruffle feathers. You notice I don't specically mention your brand of choice but, the schooled response of many here to me and other preferring SONY is? "Oh, somebody else makes the good ones" (Who Cares) and the other's are made in TAIWAN? I ask, "wheres my put down"? I hear this and asked for real life references of bad media and there are none. Why the competition? As I've already stated SONY is very high quality and readily availble as opposed to having to make a online order. These comments about my preference sounds like egotistically explained deterants.
I like SONY just like you like your brand. I need SONY, I take a short ride and purchase at a discount cost i.e. SALE. I don't need to stock up for the winter by making a online purchase and waiting. I coveniently purchase as I need. Ignorant, is claiming to know everything in this case. Know one here or anywhere does. So just enjoy the thread and forget the senseless babble.

Sony discs are just fine with me, also .. My BenQ likes the MIJ Sony/Yudens while my set top LiteOns really like the MIT Sony/Sony discs .. But on the BenQ, the Yuden made Sony and Fuji discs produce scans that blow everything else away ...
As far as the 16x Office Depot Ricohjpn discs .. I haven't tried them yet as I purchased TONS of the OD Riteks and TONS of the Maxell/Riteks (on Black Friday 25 for $5, couldn't resist) .. I'll talk my friend at OD into giving me some from a returned pack and try 'em out ...

This has been a somewhat amusing thread. So even though there seems to be a disagreement here, is it safe to say that both sides agree that TY media are the best...whether they are labled TY or Sony (MIJ)?

My responses are not to offend, But as I have stated using your membership or status as member or moderator to persaude people to agree or adhere to your opinion is abuse of your priviliges as member or moderator (profiling post). Many have notice your dictative behavior (with glee) which is not necessary or welcomed in my opinion. looks like someone we all know too, but has cleaned up his act a bit.
and to edit, i just saw paradyme's post after i did mine.
i'd say creaky is the authority on verbatims as doc is to TY's. hence there 1,000's of burns on said media.
i have never used sony, nor will i try, i use what works for me.
i'm not coming to anyone's defense here, and your opinion and choice of media is yours and YOURS only.
i just think that we/us should resolve this issue before it turns ugly. you are correct paradyme, you state what you like, and thats fine with me.
everyone is different with what they use.

@paradyme, no i'm not itching to ban anyone. when have i ever used my 'status' to persuade ppl to agree with me. stuff i post is not there to force anyone to do anything. My biggest 'crime' is advising ppl to use decent media. The choice is theirs, i give my advice and ppl are welcome to ignore/disagree with it. However you're bang out of order to accuse me of abusing any priviledge quite frankly as it's not even in my character. I am a fairly assertive person (in real life) but never abuse that either. However that has/should have nothing to do with how a person posts on a website. I had no idea as to your age, i always try to post so as not to offend someone if they're a different age to my perception of that person's age from their post. To call me a keyboard bully is ridiculous, i've never been any kind of bully. As to delegating authority i've been doing that (in real life) for about 15years but on AD i don't put myself above others or post with an attitude of any kind. Being mod now means i have to (sometimes) word things differently than another poster would do, but i'm assuming you're referring to my posting prior to being mod. Either way you're just plain wrong. I make it my business to veer ppl away from questionable media and there's nothing wrong with that, i just happen to think 'Verbatim TY' are exceptional discs. over here in the UK there really is no price difference in buying crap over good media. And as for Sony, i have found virtually no places to buy Sony at a reasonable cost otherwise i'd use them. I concede that in other countries the Verbs are not as cheap as other media but hey.

I can't remember the exact details but feel free to remind me and i'll happily edit this reply if piracy wasn't the correct word. At risk of you accusing me of being a bully again, how about we get back on topic re the media and you keep your misguided and incorrect/irrelevant comments re my personality/online conduct to yourself. You are more than welcome to push whichever media you like, for instance i don't recall replying to any of your Sony posts at all; i personally never use Sony for DVD media hence why i don't post anything about them. But at least i try to research other media as best as i can. And i pass that info on when i have it, if any of it is incorrect ppl only have to holler. As i say i'm a reasonable adult and often quite happily edit replies when someone points out a mistake/blonde moment.
last comment - I am not crony-ing with anyone on posts, i have literally 260 threads to catch up on and this was simply the next on my list.
