the make of my dvd+r's are "infiniti" and i was wondering if they will be ok for disk backups.

All you can do is try them (i wouldnt expect much though). Also, they might work now, but in a few months stop working.

taiyo yuden, verbatim, TDK, ritek/ridata. Mitsui (don't confuse this with mitsumi) are also good but, it doesn't seem many people use it.

i have also got phillips dvd+rw's, how about them?

phillips should be good. But, are they +r discs or +rw discs (rw discs will probably not work).

I get my discs from here http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/

They have very good discs, especially check out the non-printable section DVD-R.. verbatim 8x DVD-R with tygo2 code are Taiyo yuden and very good... also the ridisc extreme 8x DVD-R are ritek go5 dye... never had a bad burn with either of them.

If you are worried about price, get some Ritek G05 discs. They are pretty cheap, but still good quality (i use them).

a friend of mine uses these disks calleed tuffdisks, apparently he seems to think that is isn't a better dvd u can use but he uses them for his xbox so i dont know if it would be the same
