ok i have already replaced the plastic thingy connected to the laser and the screw motor seems to be working fine but the laser keeps getting stuck in one spot ive looked for a catch or something but nothing and like i said the motor seems to be fine cd/dvd spins tray opens but the laser just gets stuck about an inch before the end of the rail towards the center of the cd

You say that the motor seems fine but what motor are you talking about? The motor for the tray going in and out or the motor that spins the CD around? If the CD is not spinning then your laser will go hunting towards the center and get stuck there. This happened to me when I put my PS2 back together and the ribbon cable came out for the motor that runs the CD spinning.

na all of the motors was fine cd spun tray popped out laser moved but i found the problem the rails that the laser travel on were very dry and i greesed them up and then everything worked fine
