Sounds like you may have a bad disc - try cleaning it off but you may have a bad press. You may need to exhange it for a new one. I did the 1st season without any problems - don't think there was anything special on this but it's been awhile. I probably used AnyDVD and Recode.
Here's a link for hard to rip dvd's that may help:

Well no help so far.....there is nothing wrong with the disk (physically). Both disks create an error at about 49% (DVD Decrypter)
I actuall got DVD Shrink to analysize to about 50% before it gave me a read error. It was funny, because it said there was no Encryption on the disk.
I do not know what a PSL file is.
I downloaded AnyDVD. What does it do? It is just running in the background.....do I need to do anything with it? AnyDVD told me there was a read error on the disk or there might be a region problem and I have to get firmware. My DVD is Region 1
By The way I have burnt 500+ DVD's and never had a problem like this.
AnyDVD does not do anything, it just sits there and laughs at Sony. It actually removes protection on the fly meaning you can either drag and drop the movie to your HD or use any ripping program for any Movie, even stuff like VobBlanker that does not have any Decrypting functions.
As for PSL files (Protected Sectors List), those are sort of like temporary updates for DVD Decrypter. You can load a PSL file which tells Decrypter how to rip newer movies that have some type of structure corruption.
20th Century Fox has nothing special as far as I know. Odds are that you have a bad pressing or there may be a small scuff or something that is causing the read error. There are some types of Car waxes that work wonders on discs, but those are rather expensive if only used for DVDs and I cannot think of the names of the ones I use. The ones that work best are the ones in the aerosol cans. Stuff like Zymol spray wax will also work, but it will be a pain to take off.
The amount of read errors you posted having made the movie sound like it was corrupted, but it is probably just bad. Take it back and get a new one. Say that it does not work on your DVD player. The store should give you a new one inexchange.

A disc may not look bad to be bad or a bad pressing. There can be imperfections that our eyes can't see but your ripper sure will find them. They will play fine but ripping them is forgiving and will pick up the bad spots.. Some drives are also better than others with these discs.
Before taking it back for a new one, you can try your DVDRW drive. These generally can read better than DVD-ROM drives. However, only use this as a last resort. You want to keep the wear and tear on your burner to a minimum.
This is the second copy of Arrested Development Seasin 1 that I have. The first and the second both got the same error at the same point. I then tried the second disk in the box set (of the second copy) and got the same error at about 60% in. Both sets workind fine on my DVD player and an Xbox.
I guess I will try another store, or return them and wait for a bit.
I copied this 3 DVD-box some weeks ago without any problems using DVDshrink only. It seems you're just having bad luck with the original disks. As far as I know, 20th Century Fox aren't using a new type of copy protection in contrast to Sony/Columbia-Tristar with their ACCROS skeme.
