Hey...

Just wondering, does anyone recommend USBeXtreme?

And does anyone have any info on converting games to an external hard drive that can be connected to the PS2 and in turn can play back-ups on that HHD using the above software?

I'd really appreciate any input cos I'm think about investing in it but i dont know that much about....

Sounds like a good idea though!!

Thanx!!!!!!!!!

NO! It hardly ever works and when it does work the movie scenes are choppy. Get Swap MAgic and you can just boot up the Free USB Extreme SKSApps.com And if the games dont work with USB Extreme just burn it to a DVD and play with Swap Magic.

P4 2.0 GHz 128 MB Radeon 9250, DVD 16x Burner/CD 64x Burner, 16x Read DVD Drive. 2 PSTwo's w/ Swap Magic 3.3. Unmodded X-Box and GameCube.

Hey no prob, I just check if the game works good with my downloaded version of USB Extreme, and if it works and the movie sense arnt choppy i play it with us extreme if they are i jusst burn and boot w/ Swap Magic. The only games so far that have been perfect are Neopets: The Darkest Faerie and Metal Gear Soild 2 & 3

ChrisKahn is right. Until v11 u could use the Independence Exploit (a memory card exploit) and boot program (ELFs) that let you play those games. With Winhiip u could hook your PS2 to your PC & transfer all those games over the network adapter to the hard drive. It's like having an Xbox with a 20GB hard drive :)

All that changed with the v12 PSTwo (aka the slimline), as all MC exploits appear to be dead. No more Winhiip because of this. What you can do is use a modchip and install XCM HD Connect, a description here: http://www.nobis-crew.org/content/view/30/43 and then you want a compatible external HDD of less than 200GB, non-SATA. Chart of good HDDs is here: http://ps2drives.x-pec.com

USBextreme is too slow on the 1.1 USB port. Get the real thing, like the fat PS2s had. Your very own hard drive hard wired to the motherboard.

Actually USBextreme isnt that bad the gameplay is normal except for choppy movies but who cares about those. i have hella new games on my hdd. Some one should try to make the USB port on the PS2 from 1.0 to 2.0 then there would be no problems.

The USB 1.1 port operates at 12Mbps MAX (this is the official PC spec for all USB 1.1 devices).
The throughput, btw, depends on the feedback/fragmentation of the HDD. If the HDD is fragmented, expect a much lower speed. For that reason, I think it SUCKS!! A normal HDD, connected via the HDcombo or XCM HD Connect, will operate at roughly 5-20 times the speed depending on the max xfer rate of your HDD.
The HD Combo & XCM HD Connect basically puts back what $ony stole away from slimeline owners. Remember that.
