I have Windows Media Center on my computer, and I can record TV, so I have recorded quite a bit of shows and was wondering how I should go about putting them onto DVDs. A half hour show is about 1.4GB and so I need to compress them to get them onto DVDs at a reasonable amount of memory. Any help with ideas or programs I should use would be great, thanks!

Many dvd burner can convert and burn DVDs directly, such as winavi, dvdsanta.
Certainly, you can also convert your tv shows to DVD's VOB files first, and then burn to DVD with Nero.
