I have recently had a v13 moded with a matrix infinity se. The matrix se chip suffered memory loss after trying to adjust settings in the matrix infinity manager. Knowing what a piece of crap this clone chip is, I replaced it with a actual Matrix Infinity (blue dot). Now when I boot the unit, it will shut off whenever it detects dvd media. It actually shuts off completely. If there is Blue disk cd media inserted, it had no problem mounting it, or the firmware upgrade cd. I can mount and play NTSC and PAL blue disks, jut not any DVD disks. I upgraded to the latest firmware 1.68 and I still have the same issue. Also, I should note that have a slim line laser fix installed. Does the laser fix cause issues on the v13?
I can't help but you can try and E-mail The Matrix Team at info@infinitymod.com and let them know about your problem. They're usually quick and might be able to help you out.
mshredder, can you let me know what you were able to find out. I just finished installing a Modbo 2.0 on my Korean V12 last night and I seem to have the same problem. Games work fine, a couple of Chinese DVD's work fine but domestic DVD's just put the PS2 back into standby mode.
All of the info I read before installing my chip said the laser fix is needed for all V12,V13&V14's
Other than this, I think I did a pretty good job for a first time soldering attempt. The machine still works.
Well, the issue remained until after I adjusted the Pot resistance on the laser, it seamed to be reading cd normal as usual, but DVDs were still causing the unit to go back to stand by. Then bammo! The unit would no longer boot. I suspect the logic board, but I really have not had time to bother to mess with it. I have yet to remove the chip, laser fix and all wiring, but may give that a go later. I have posted this issue on repair forums, and have not gotten any sugetions to the culprit.
Oh man, I wish I could remember for sure because it only ran for such a short time with the clone chip. I do recall it giving the bootleg Matrix logo under the Playstaion logo. From what I could tell, and from the info that I got from the reseller, it was the latest version that ran the 1.5 version of the official Matrix firmware. But, right after I attempted to boot to the Matrix manager....well you know how that goes.
