Does using swap magic with magic stick make the PS2 burn out sooner? I keep reading about problems with lasers

From my experience, no. I'm using SM on a V7 PS2 that is over 3 years old and it works completely fine. The problem people run into is that they don't use quality media (Sony, Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim). That is what can burn your laser sooner.
