What is a good quality percentage to shoot for without degrading the copy too much? Is 60% ok? I use both Recode or Clone DVD, Recode will generally give me a better percentage while copying an entire DVD.
I can't seem to remove the extras and still keep a working Menu on the copy to see the scene selections or any extras I do keep.
When I use "Recode an entire DVD" and remove certain scenes, a blue screen is put in the place of the scene instead of just removing it and the blue screen plays as long as the removed scene. When removing extras in Clone, the quality ends up being @ the same as not removing them in Recode. Anyone else having these problems or am I just not using the programs right.
Thanks

Hi,

I would suggest you try dvd shrink. The method i would suggest is you use clonedvd to rip the entire dvd to your hard drive then use shrink to compress to fit to dvd. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shr... A link which can be most helpful. You can get dvd shrink from the software tabs. http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/software.htm a link to guides. Good luck.

Forgot to add the quality will depend on the amount of compression.

to burn or not to burn that is the question

need help w/ media read this http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/155431

I have Nero Recode 2. To reauthor a movie, you should choose 'remake a dvd', i.e. second option.

@ axv-405. have you ever heard of vobBlanker? search for it and learn to use it, it is the best application to remove the stuff you don't want. the process takes a little longer.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

I think that the easiest method, as proposed in the prevoius thread, is to use the (free) application DVDShrink. I insist to save first in a folder first the original compilation files and non input the files from the original disk. This can solve you many problems especially in cases of mistakes. Also I agree that by selecting only the movie you' ll have better quality to the new compilation. In this case the majority of the movies are over from 90% and generally the results are better than 80-85%. Do not forget to select better quality (it takes more time) for better results. Finally don't use the write disc option, but select create folders on the hard disk. So you can preview the final result before burn it with your burner (I believe that you use nero for doing this).
Even now, after ages, I still believe that IFOEdit is best for this job (with the aid of ReMpeg2), but it is not so elegant and takes a lot of time to finish reauthoring (14-18 hours) to shrink a 2 hour movie at the 80% of the original compilation!
