I need to know how to make a back up copy of a back up copy. When I try with DVD shrink I get this error "Invalid DVD navigation structure." If I try to use DVDFab I get this error "Get DVD information failed 4096." If I try DVD Decrypter I get all kinds of error messages. Any help would be appreciated.

First off, does the copy playback OK. If yes then all you need is any regular disc copy program. Nero, Record Now Max and even Roxio should be able to make a second copy of a copy. A copy is no longer encrypted so you don't really need Shrink or any decrypting program.

If still having a problem it could be due to the first copy being burned on a poor quality blank media. It may be the way the first copy was burned as in burned too fast. It could be it was edited wrong before it was burned or converted from a download wrong.

If the first copy was done properly and burned on good media there shouldn't be any problem with mulitple copies off that first one.

What you can do is try this:

1. Pop in your disk
2. Open up DVDDecrypter
3. Click Mode\ISO and enable Read
4. Click Tools\Settings...
5. Click on the CSS tab
6. Make sure Brute Force -> I/O Key Exchange is enabled
7. Click on the General tab
8. Make sure Removal Method is Aggressive
9. Finally choose the destination for the file

If that doesn't work then you're SOL since it could be a bad original burn or any number of other irrelevant reasons.

Hi, all I wanted to say what a great board this is. I'm still new to it but read a lot on it and not post.
I back up all movies with out a problem most of the time. Well when family are friends come over they always want a copy of something I have. I've always been able to make a another copy by using Sonic which came with my computer, I have 2 drives which makes it nice I put the copied movied into my DVD Drive & the blank into my buner Drive which is a lite on. I have been backing up copied moves without any problem. But her latley when I do it will start copying and about 20% into it, it will kick out my blank disc failed to copy due to error data, I don't know whats going on but I have wasted so many disc lately because of this. The copied movies are good. But the error tells me either I have a bad disc are dirty etc. I did buy Philips DVD-R and I know they are low grade of DVD's but they've always worked in the past, So I bought more blank DVD's (Maxell) & (Memorex) Still had the same trouble. I think my DVD drive might be getting bad. But I find it strange that I can put an orgianl movie in my DVD drive and a blank one in my burning drive and all goes just fine even with the Philips disc which I was thinking were a bad bundle of disc. So now the only way I can seem to back up a copied movie is just to us my burning Drive go through the whole DVD Shrink route again and it works fine. but have to wait till it finish so I can put a blank disc in. I really liked being able to do the other way with both the drives because I don't have to wait around to switch out disk. I clean both drives with a Disc Cleaner so I know that's not the problem. Thanks for any input.

Hi mely4fun, It sounds like you have a bunch of bad blanks. The brand name printed on the package doesn't mean much these days as many companies buy blanks from a manufacturer and then put their name on the blanks. Memorex is a good example of this. Most of their blank media is made by CMC MAG inc which is known for some of the worst media on the market. Download either DVDINFOPRO or DVD IDENTIFIER and then check the manufacturer ID off your blank discs. We will be able to tell you if they are junk or not. Its always better to buy the best blanks possible some of which are TY, Verbatim or RITEK. Hope this helps some.

Thanks Jerry For your Reply, The DVD's you mentioned I don't think I've seen them in my loacl stores.
I was backing up Dukes Of Harrard (Unrated) just now..No problems unitl right at the end of the burn process..It was 100% and it hung up and then gave me an error, so before I threw the copy away I put in it DVD play and it worked fine and it's not missing anything. I've had that happen a few times in the past.

I have another Question :)

Ok steps I take burning a movie, if there is not problem with proction on them.

I open DVD Shrink Analysis it when that part is done, then I hit Back up make a folder. when that is finished it kicks in burn mode on its on. Now my question is can I make more then 1 copy after that first one is done? without having to go through all the steps above, and without having to do copy 2 copy?

Well here are a few things I noticed. First, I know you like to burn ON THE FLY from one drive to another, but thats not really the best way for burning dvds. Unless you have a very fast and powerful computer it usually causes errors. You have an extreme amount of data flowing through your system that way which can cause many problem.

Second problem is this from your log.
Disc Manufacturer: CMC MAG. AM3.
and
Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR.
Both of those point to poor quality blank media. The blanks I suggested usually need to be ordered off line. TY and Ritek usually can't be found in stores. Verbatim at times will be seen on store shelves. They don't actually cost much more than the junk type. If you want to keep using the blanks you have, try setting your burn speed to 4x or even 2x. The slower the better for those blanks.

The problem near the end of the burn my be from the target size in Shrink being slightly too big. Set TARGET SIZE to 4300. When done with the first burn and you want a second copy, the files are still on your HD. You should be able to add those files to a Nero project again to re-burn a second copy.

Ty Jerry for trying to help, Also I didn't know that was my Serial Number to my burner :)...I'm really a computer dummy when it comes to errors...LOL..but I do try to understand what I'm taught. As for the Data Flowing Again...I don't understand what you mean. If your taking about stuff running the Back Ground...I should only have my antivirus, and dell updates. Are at least I think...LOL

Just wanted to let you know that if you buy Sony media from somewhere like Target or Walmart, they have always benn Tayo Yuden when I use DVD Identifier. So at least sony isnt making the cheap stuff.
