Does the ps2 prefer a certain type of dye? Like how there are like cyanine(lght blue color) and the other gold-silver colored discs.
Would any disc work, as long as it is good quality?

Taiyo Yuden are some of the highest quality, other ppl recommend Ricoh. Stay the hell away from any store brands and other cheap media such as Memorex. Just remember these 3 things: Great media, perfect original (ISO) and slow burn. That will get you great results.
