I bought a 100 tayo yuiden 4x discs and they burned at 4x on my pioneer 108 and 110d.I bought them again and know they burn at 12x on both burners. Is their any way to slow down writing speed on shrink or should i use nero.tey freeze near the end and glitch
Hello,
First things first....
Shrink does not burn.
Now you might be thinking "oh yes it does, how else did that disc get burned?"
Well, Shrink can detect Nero, DVD Decrypter, and CopyToDVD on your PC and use either of those tools to burn the disc for you. Burning with Nero is checked by default, so those with Nero on their PC use Shrink without realizing it can't burn. And if ever you decide to use either of the others to burn, go into Shrink preferences and uncheck enable burning with Nero.
So, now that we know that your burning with Nero, make sure the settings in Nero are set to burn at 4X.
Sometimes in discs, there can be poor dye distribution at the edges, which can cause "glitches" at the end of the movie. To work around this, it's nice to leave yourself a buffer and change the target size in Shrink. You'll want to go into preferences and change it from DVD5 to Custom. For higher quality discs, you can usually get away with 4400 or so. For those bold enough to use poor media it's a good idea to stick around 4300.
thanks.Do you recommend burning at slower speeds all of the time.I also have so tayo yuiden 8x disc that i haven't tried but i'm sure they will burn at 12x as well or is that to fast.
It is not recommended to burn at more than 4X...I have an NEC drive that will burn at 12X also, and I know that speed is cool but not recommended. As stated above, set target size to 4300 and you can set your burn speed in DVDD and Nero.
thanks At DVD5 it was set to 4464.I'll set it to custom at 4300 and try that.I could burn one good backup before this all happened but when i would try to make another backup it would get this cannot read f:cyclcic error at the analyzing stage.
No need to even use DVD Shrink, because the movie has already been compressed. Just use DVD Decrypter in ISO read mode, and then burn from the MDS file in ISO write mode.
