I own an original copy of a DVD, and want to copy it (with all additional features) to a DVD-R, but to add subtitles for the film for a new language which isn't featured on the original.

I've already found a subtitle file off the internet in .sub format.

So, please, a quick guide to the software I'll need (free ones ideally!) and how to do it. Any guidance appreciated!

This is Extremely Difficult to do and it might not even work because you don"t know if your Sub file is a NTSC or a PAL Version as the NTSC and PAL Versions of the Movie have Different Lengths and Time codes....

The only way I could Think of to do this would be to Totally re-author the DVD in a advanced DVD authoring program that supports Subtitles and re-authoring it so it Looks and acts and functions Just like the original But with an extra Subtitle Track would be nearly Impossible for a Regular Joe to do....

Also a Retail DVD with all of the Original Video and Audio and Subs and Special features would not Fit on a DVD-R unless you Compressed the Hell out of it which would Make for a But Ugly looking DVD....

It would Be a Lot easier but still complicated if you just did the Main Movie and Dropped the extra audio Tracks and Subtitles and used your Own Custom made Menu"s and the SUB file that you have to create the DVD...You could use some of the Original Menu"s and even add a couple extra Features but it wouldn"t look exactly like the Original....

The Problem that makes it all so Difficult is that when you add something to a DVD Like a Subtitle Track you have to Change the Whole Structure of the DVD and all of the Info in the IFO and BUP files has to be Changed and extra Functions have to be added to the Menu"s so you can enable the Extra subtitle Track which also changes the structure of the DVD.....I don"t know of any software that will Just let you add a subtitle .......
