HD ADVANCE 3.0 HELP

I am tryign to play SOCOM 3 from my PS2 using HD ADVANCE. I formatted the HDD fine. I loaded SOCOM 3 to the HDD fine. When I go to play it, the screen freezes up. I changed a setting or two using the select button and the first part of the game starts to load up, i.e. "checking memory card.blah blah blah". Then the game freezs up again. Can anyone help? What exactly does the seven settings mean when I push the SELECT button? Any help would be great. Thanks.

I have HD Advance 3.0 as well, and I tried loading it to the HD over the network. I even played with some of the options such as disabling DVD9 or killing the HDL after launch. All I get is a brief flicker of the title screen and an even more brief flicker showing it's looking at the memory card.

I would love to know how you got to a point where a controller became useful, myself. I haven't seen any other evidence yet that anyone else got this game to work.
