Want to repair corrupted ntoskml.exe file on my Dell dimension600m with cd, but it asks for administrative password and I don't know administrative password.
I never set up a password so I don't know what it is asking for. What can I do?

If you didnt put a password in when you originally install the O/S then you just leave it blank and click <ENTER>

BUT -- if someone else installed for you and did put a password , or you did yourself and dont remember it ---> Post again , I will explain how to get it back from your NUSRMGR.CPL file ; this file is not readable when the O/S is loaded it has to be intercepted while booting. For obvious reasons , cause anyone could get at the passwords. <Smiles>

Just re-read your initial post -- you say Dell dimension600m with cd ---- Put that Cd in and you have a system recovery option in -- I just talked with a Dell Technician and there is no password required to change the password if you use the CD and the tag number-- that looks like this VRDCN**- ............

You are looking for the Eprom password I see !

By the way what is wrong with your ntoskml.exe -- that is your Boot up kernel .

Mmmmm.... this sounds weird -- you having problems with a boot kernel and now asking someone to help you recover a password you initially said you did not have ! Sorry , but I cant help you on this in a Forum.

Best you contact Dell if you bought the laptop from them -- or your vendor.
