Cannot play CD or DVD rips on CD backups

Prior to the problem, I had the USB "SBOX" mod and a Gameshark disc to load the backup. The game loaded with no problems. I took the plunge and decided to go with the "no swap" mod chip. It plays my DVD game backups well that are done with DVD Decrypter burning at 1x speed. However 5 out of 100 plus CDs work. Hmmm. I have cleaned the inside of the console for a while so I opened it up and cleaned the lens, spray canned air, etc. Again, DVD backups loaded fine but the CDs don't. Grrr. So I tried an experiment of burning one backup at 1x speed, the other at max. Both CDs load perfectly (scratches head). Does anybody have a suggestion? I have over 100 CDs and I really perfer not to recopy all of them. Thank you all for your support.

Oh...I forgot to add, the 5 that do work are burned on Imation CDs. The rest are burned on an assortment of Imation, TDK, BENQ, Sony and a few "no-name" CDs. The CDs I used for my backup tests are the cheap no-name CDs that load with no problems. I'll try using Sony brands on 1x speed and max speed. Stay tuned...
