Ok so there are hundreds of camcorders to choose from. My questioon is what to choose? What should i be looking for in my quest to find a good camera?

Not uber-expensive like $600+ (this is just a chistmas present).

Sorry if this is a repost but i tried the search and couldnt find what im looking for and i didnt want to manually go through 100s of pages
