if you don't know much about installing, formatting and creating/deleting partitions on a hdd I would not recommend try it. Can't you get a friend that knows more about pcs to help? This is probably what needs to be done.

connect the hdd to pc. Delete the partition on it using fdisk preferably after booting up into command prompt. create a new partition. format the partition.

NTSC DNAS threads.

first thing to do is make you a bootable floppy, you can do this from the 'Add/Remove Programs' of your control panel, then turn the PC off, disconnect your PCs HDD from the IDE cable and install the PS2 HDD (jumpers should be for master already).

insert the floppy disk and turn the PC back on.

you can select to boot without CD support to make it faster.

when it boots it will give you a warning that no HDD was detected that it could be a virus or XXXXX ignore that........

at the command prompt type in FDISK

when that pops up it's pretty self explanatory, allow for LBA support and create a partition (use 100% of the space) make sure you tell it to make it primary as well.

then when you finish that exit FDISK.

at the prompt type in FORMAT C: and hit enter, it asks a few questions select Y on them and continue, when your done with all that your PC operating system will recognize the HDD and you can use it as you wish.

you will though need to change the jumper settings around to fit the configuration of your setup and these settings are located on the HDD its self as to which jumper gives you what, they are in most cases Single Master w/ SLAVE PRESENT (or just Master) SLAVE or CS (cable select)
