I have used these tayo yuiden 4x discs for a while and no probs.I get a new 100 spindle and now they burn at 12x.I went into nero drive speed control and set on e of my drives to 4x.It still burns at 12.It will burn the full movie. If i try to make another backup of the first backup in analyzing it will stop and start. When it starts encoding it will eventually stop and i get this data error cyclic eroor.I have shrink set to custom and 4300-4400 so i just don't get it.Bad discs?please HELP
Pick your burn speed once you click back up under the burn settings tab in shrink. It usually defaults to the last one used. Burning at max speed can cause problems as you just witnessed.
Oh and make sure your frmware is up to date. I don't think you have bad discs but run them thru Nero Toolkit and post back the manufacturer id.
Yeah Binkie's right, a common mistake ppl make when they try to adjust Nero's speed is to do it outside of DVD Shrink. When you get that one last window prompting you of the specifics before shrink starts the process click on the "burn settings" tab in that window and change it there.
Yeah, if you are burning 4x discs at 12x you are definately overburning them. This can definately cause you issues with playback. Taiyo's are great discs and they might be able to handle it, but I wouldn't want to take the risk of ruining the best discs made by doing this.
i have a feeling I30T got either some 8x (TYG02) or 16x (TYG03) rated TY DVD-R in his most recent order, many online media retailers are now substituting either the TYG02-8x/TYG03-16x now when you pay for the 4x TYG01s, only because the 4x are quickly becoming VERY scarce as they (Taiyo Yuden) no longer produce them anymore :)
there are 2 possible scenarios that quickly come to mind in this particular case:
1. he got TYG03s (16x rated) and his firmware/burner only allow him to burn these discs @12x...
2. he got TYG02s (8x rated) and his firmware/burner allows him to "overburn" his 8x discs @ 12x....
either case, your setup needs to be addressed...
very good suggestions by binkie and glueeater in HOW to change the burn speed setting :)
and to burn a 4x disc @12x, while fairly uncommon, it IS in fact possible as i can easily do this with my Pioneer dvr-109 w/ buffalo firmware, i've done it and it's NOT a pretty sight~ :) so, if this LAST scenario is what you are dealing with I30T, then, DO adjust the burn speed as everyone suggested or else you will continue to make coaster after coaster...
