I bought a Ps2 network adapter at eb Games for 15 bucks today. The problem I am haveing is it did not come with a driver disk, ( I was told by the guy working at the store that this was all I needed and there was not driver disk for it, then when I called back the same guy said "yea. it won't work without those drivers".
I tried to install the network adapter and play a few games on the inter-net this evening, but the games said I don't have a isp file on either memory card anf it won't work without it. I called the store and told them about this and they said I could down load the drivers from sony and burn a copy to use in the ps2, but that the network adapter was a non-refundable item and if I could not get the disk I was just out of luck because they would not take it back. My question is can I get the drivers from somewhere and use them in this manner or and I just out of luck? Thank you very much for your help guys.
Thanks a Ton, I don't know why I didn't think of that, just not smart enough I guess but that did it, The first game I tried to play on line was a PS2 chess game and it didn't have that. But after I read your post I checked midnight club 3 and it set it up and I was racing in no time. So again thanks for the help.
i've only got two online games Killzone and Splintercell:pandoras box and neihter of them have the setup utility. Can any one list the network games which have this facility as its two weeks now and sony still havent sent me my bloody disc. I personally think its a farce having to register before they will send you the network disc for the new slim line ethernet enabled PS2. You can't just open the box and get online straight theres going to be load of people disapointed over christmas when they try to go online and have to wait upto six weeks for there network disc.
After readint that you too needed help I went through all my games to see which had the set up info. I was wrong on the midnight club 3 disk it was really "mortal kombat decption". This disk DOES have the set-up drivers on it, as far as my other disk none had the driversfor the network adapter. I hope this helps you can buy this gamr for around $25.00 dollars, and it is a great game too.
Yeah.. on the disc, once you choose the language, you go to connection settings or something, and you choose your connection type (I chose AutoDetect for most of it) it verifys, and saves to your mem.card for games to use.
Also, not all games require you to make an account with central station, games such as Tony Hawks Underground 2 allow you to play free for all, as long as you have the network adapter and an original or backup with DNAS patched, you can play online without needing to register an account with Sony's central station.
