Hey everyone,

I'm having trouble with setting up my slimline Playstation 2 network. I have the necessary equipment (Router, 2 Ethernet Cables, broadband) however when I test the connection, it doesn't connect.

My ISP (Tiscali) uses a username and password to connect to the internet so in the network configuration screen, I answered "yes" to that question and when I did the connection failed.

However, when I went back to edit my settings, I answered "no" to this question and then the connection was successful.

But when I selected network gaming on "Pro Evo 5" the DNAS verification failed and it didn't give me an error code.

"Verifying DNAS" continued flashing for fifteen minutes and the music was muted. So I think it may have crashed. This happened 2-3 times.

Does anybody have an idea of what the problem might be? Could it be something I have done wrong in the network configuration screen?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

U shouldnt need a login and pw for the ps2 since ur router logs onto ur isp with that info already... so ur problem probably is ur router is blocking the ports needed to verify dnas... what u should do is check ur router manual and see if u can set the ps2's ip as a dmz host or just forward the appropriate ports

I thought that might be the problem too but, if there's port problems it usually gives you a dnas error in the 600 range. The music muting is normal as this happens with all other games I've played online with. Try out what heybilly said to eliminate the possibility of a closed port. Also, if you have any kind of p2p apps or other apps that use network ports they could possibly be interfering (I remember someone having a problem which got resolved after he closed a p2p program).

Hey thanks guys.

I'll definitely try both of these out.

But there is one thing that I'm curious about. I forgot to mention this in yesterday's post (and I think it may be the problem) but I have Winning Eleven 9 and not Pro Evolution 5 so I was thinking this might be the problem.

Do any of you guys know if you can connect with WE 9 in England?

no, you won't be able to without extra work but, you should still get a DNAS error so I don't know why it's freezing. For more info check out my post on page 5 of the NTSC dnas post I have pretty much everything covered there on playing games from different regions.

I received my network access disk yesterday and to my surprise, it verified DNAS. So I'm thinkin' it's the WE9 I've been playin' with - that must be the problem.

Tonight, I'm gonna try the original Pro 5 (I'm gonna pick it up from a friend) and if that works, I'm gonna have to buy Pro 5.

As a general question, do you guys know if copies work in online mode? Like say, if I copied Pro 5, would it work?

we9 is a japanese game and I'm assuming you live in europe, In which case the game is the problem and not your system or setup. I'm sure Pro evo 5 is gonna work with no problems. Backups work online only after you patch them with a valid dnas ID.
