I have purchased Sony DVD+R discs and they seem to scratch during the burn process. Is it my media or the player?? Other original DVDs seem to be fine after being used in my player. Whats up??

Are the Sony's scratched before you try and burn them? May be your drive. The originals are tougher than the media you burn.

The blanks look good going in. They just come out with a scratch towards the outer edge. Sometimes it affects the last few chapters. I'll be pissed if it turns out to be my drive.

Maybe something is unbalanced. Could be drive or maybe your blank media.

Are those sony's the only discs that show the scratches after you burn?

What is the brand name and model # of your dvd-rw drive?

One thing you can try is reducing your backup target,so you keep the burn from reaching the outer edge of your blanks. I keep mine set at 4360 mbs on everything. 4380 mbs is about max on a blank dvd. You may want to set yours at 4300 mbs. It'll give you a little more compression,but safely away from the outer edge that is being scratched.

If you use dvd shrink,like the majority of us,simply:

Open up dvd shrink
Edit
Preferences
Click dvd-5/scroll till you get to custom
enter 4300 mbs
Click OK and that's all she wrote.

If the issues are ok after your next batch of media,then take that target backup to 4360 mbs.
