Swapping ruin slim ps2s?

I have been swapping my old style PS2 for a long time.. Someone told me today that if you swap you ruin your ps2 and destory the eye..

Any truth to this?

playing a backup in general wears out your laser more than playing originals would, using higher quality blank media lessens the amout of extra wear on the laser. The thing I'd be more worried about with swapping is if you're using something like the slide tool to open your tray because that'd most likely damage your tray mechanism more quickly.

Yeah I've heard the same thing, except you have a higher chance of ruining it if you are careless with it and are franticlly trying to find where the slide card goes.
