I use to be able to play my back ups on my ps2 with swap magic but it slowly started to go on me. It began with my games pausing and then going again. Now they just won't work. Also when I play a back up of a movie it pauses aswell. Any one know whats going on. Any help would be great.

Have you tried cleaning your PS2/laser? If not, give that a try to see if that helps. Otherwise, your laser could possibly be shot!
Also, have you changed anything pertaining to the burn process (different media, program or speed)?

Sounds like the laser maybe burning out, it may need to be changed and then protected with a laser fix for future use.

i haven't changed anything to do with my burning process. I took the PS2 apart and blew all of the dust off it inside and found that my GF's hair had been wrapped around the spinner for the disk's. What do you recomend I clean the laser with. If the laser is shot where can I get a new one.
Thanks

As far as I know a normal DVD laser cleaning disk will do the job, otherwise they are advertised as specific disks if you search on Google for ps2 laser cleaner.
Also spare lenses are available from various places found from uing google, all depends where you are for the best place for spares.
If the unit has been taken apart, then the laser may just need to be adjusted if its gone out of alignment.

Don't use a DVD cleaner! That is more liable to make it worse than actually fix it. To clean the laser, you'll want to use a q-tip and rubbing alcohol.

Sorry, just saw your 2nd post. What speed are you burning at and what is the speed of your DVD's (4X, 8X, etc)?
You might want to try using better media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Sony or TDK.

I agree on the media comment.
Ritek disks are fine for films, but they are not up to PS2 backups.
Mine used to freeze and sound would stick until I changed to TY media.

I think my problem is because my ps2 needs to be cleaned and the media I'm using is cheap!!! I tried one of my backup movies in the ps2 but it wouldn't work. I then made a back up of the back up and it worked fine. I guess where i have had the backups made for a long time the quality of the media is no longer any good.
