I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, but here goes.
I have ripped a DVD using DVD Shrink. Then I use DVD2AVI. Following that I encode with TMPGenc. Usually no problem.
But I have one video that is in 16:9 ratio on the DVD. I have done everything as usual including selecting the 16:9 aspect when encoding with TMPGenc. But the resulting file is 4:3.
I have done other vob files this way and ended up with a proper 16:9 result.
Any suggestions?

Actually, I have determined that the problem is with DVD2AVI 1.77.4

It is not creating a 16:9 ratio file. Any alternatives?

Why do you have to change the ripped movie to AVI, then encode again?

The DVD Shrink changes them to VOB files. Is there an easier process than DVD2AVI and then TMPGEnc? TMPGEnc doesn't seem to read the VOB files.

Are you trying to burn the whole movie to dvd, or something else. Please clarify so that we can give more appropriate suggestions.

I'm ripping a tv series. I use the re-author feature of DVD Shrink to pull off each episode seperately as VOB files. Then I normally use DVD2AVI to make a file TMPGEnc can encode.

Hi,

I'm a bit confused..if you rip the file then convert with DVD2AVI why the need to use TMGenc? Are you making mpegs? I suggest you try autogk. Though the process is a tad long the results are pretty good. http://rita.lt/guides/AutoGK_DVDtoAVI.htm. Take a look at that link and give it a try if you are ultimately wanting to make mpeg files.

to burn or not to burn that is the question

I am saving the files to cd not dvd at this time. I also just found and am using Max DVD to AVI which is doing exactly what I needed in the first place.
Thanks.
