I have burned +Rs in the past and slapped labels on them. I recently started having problems with many of my discs in my standalone DVD player (Samsung HD-950) as well as in my XBOX360 with the disc pixelating and seizing up. It's not the drive since many discs still work, and the messed up discs work in my PC. I determined, through the help from the forums, that the labels were warbling (throwing the disc off center) the laser. I peeled off a few labels with great success (using the warm soapy water method).
My question is: can I print on non-printable discs using a inkjet printer (the Epson R200 seems to be my best bet,I currently have an HP that won't print to the disc) directly onto the disc or would that mess the disc up? Should I just buckle down and buy the printable ones? I love my professional looking discs. What brand of disc would anyone recommend?

yeah I had problems with the few discs I put labels onto, only done a dozen or so (over 2 year ago) 3 out of the 4 dvd players I've got won't play em.

As for printing on non printable disc, I can't imagine the image being either good, or lasting that long with no printable surface.

I've used over 200 Ritek G05 X8 Printables and have not had a single coaster so far.........

all still scan at 95-97 quality.

@tbzab, should you decide to purchase the printer I can assure you that you will not be dasappointed. I have had one for some time now and my labels are all professional looking. I use Verbatim Ink jet printable discs and I get my cover design from http://www.cdcovers.cc , go to covers, then click on the required cover and download( they are in alphabetical form). These covers are taken from ORIGINALS and you CANNOT tell the difference and the besr part is they are FREE

I recommend these if you wanna stay in the +R format:

http://www.rima.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=...

These in the -R:

http://supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-white-inkjet-printable-8x-...

Or these:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817130947

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817130979

Both brands are excellent!!! The ink is not going to adhere to non-printable discs... I get my art from
customcdlabels.com, hirescovers.com, and cdcovers.cc....
