Hi yea the problem is that after me and my cousin was installing the qoob pro we soldered everything to the right point and the red wire soldered to the alternate spot but the problem is when we connected the gc the qoob led was on and the gc led and the fan was spinning but the screen was black adn the disc drive wasnt spinning. We tried taking the heatsink off but that didnt do anything. We tried desoldering the red wire and putting it on the gold point but we ended up putting too much solder there and now its solder covering the point. We put the red wire back to the other point and now the gc led or the qoob led doesnt turn on and only the fan works. Is the gamecube dead?

It might be possible to repair it, since you probably just bridged something you shouldn't have. My advice is find someone that knows how to use desoldering braid and have them remove the unwanted solder connections along with the excess solder. If you don't know how to use desoldering braid, don't use the GameCube as your learning tool. That's just asking for trouble.

Also, what kind of experience do you guys have with soldering? If this was the first time you've ever tried it, then you guys made a huge mistake. Should've practiced on scrap equipment first.

There are a couple things that might've happened.

1. A undesired solder bridge occurred.
2. Some components are heat damaged.

Solder bridges are easy to fix. Heat damage is what you need to worry about.

I think my gc is broken. I desoldered everything and put the gc back and the orange led doesnt turn on and only the fan works. I think I just wasted my money.

Nevermind I fixed it. Turns out there was some solder bridges and spots on the board and I desoldered it using a desoldering bulb and the gc worked again. Thanks for the info anyways.

Well, at least I was right about there being a solder bridge. It was even the first thing I suggested you look for.

I'm happy you managed to fix it. Not a good feeling when things go wrong.

Yea it works smoothly. I burned a game and played it perfectly without even adjusting the pot.
