If i had hdloader on my MC and left my psx1 trigger disc in,and just slipped the hdd into my pc to set up games on it, would I never have to even bother ejecting the tray at any point?

Nope you never need to open the tray after you have the exploit set up, its a plus as your laser/tray will last longer :)

Since your getting Swap Magic & a fliptop you can install the exploit that way which is the easy way, get a Ps1 game and download an application called Independence Compiler which you will use to create the exploit, after that all you need to do is burn it to a CD and once you have Swap Magic & your fliptop you can install the exploit onto your memory card and then you will only have to use the Ps1 game to trigger the exploit and you can then boot hdloader etc. Also download a program called WinHIIP, you can then connect your Ps2 hdd to your PC (as a slave:) you can either format the drive which means you can get the hdd ready for when you get the exploit up and running WinHIIP can format the drive into a Ps2 formatted hdd you can also install games that you may have on your PC (in ISO or mdf/mds format) and since you will hopefully be using a patched version of hdloader you will be able to play DVD9 (dual layer) games as long as you use WinHIIP to transfer them your hdd.

Nod, many thanx. Thats about all ive come up with myself.
Found the compiler a minute ago and just spat out an bin/cue.
Now if only I can fix my broken mystery Maxtor 60gb, that would have been perfect for this.
But no matter what I do, i cant delete the drive. quick formats, full formats. maxtor progs, partition magic, fdisk, winhiip, etc.
says format complete. check the drive, all my mp3s are still there.

you've got a 'write comand' drive fried on the HDD. it's gonna be useless with the exception of reading from. it gets a signle to write to the controller but the command never makes it to the write head.

Nod. its odd. When it was full, I could delete some stuff. Just the mp3 folder and other lil joints refuse to go.
I can still copy to it, and then the newly copied stuff, xfer back around.
thats whats annoying. its not TOTALLY useless.

I can get a seagate same size for 35 after rebates.
i despise maxtor.
Ive had 3 maxtor drives in my time, and i have all 3 die on me.
All my others, still fine.
Well, the 30gb they sent to replace my 20 that died is still working, but come now. how much longer you think?

I've got several Maxtor's that have 5+ yrs with the pc on 24/7. the only name brand drive I've ever had fail was a Western Digital and even with that failure they are still my preferred HDD.
