Forgive me as i'm new to setting up this stuff.

I have the Toshiba SD-63HK home cinema system and I have an optical cable running from it into my SKY plus digital tv box. But I do not seem to be able to get any sound output. When I press the input select button I only seem to be able to choose line ,one two or DVD.

I have lost the manual so I am unable to figure out where I can get the Optical cable audio selected?

Any help is greatly appreciated

optical is digital sound........ if i read this correctly, this is a HTIB (home theater in a box) right?
it should be straight forward.
optical, you will gain from 5.1 sounds and DTS as well as DD
the cable from your box is the output, it needs to go into the input for the receiver..

yeah thanks I got it working now I just realised I had to switch from analog to optical on the on screen menu DUH!!!

Anyway My Toshiba HTIB does not seem to have a 5.1 option on it it just goes to PLII or DD also it has a DTS option but i have yet to hear anything that makes this option light up. Does this mean I will not be able to get the full benefit of Movies broadcast in Dolby surround

no, the optical cable along with the receiver will handle that function for you. some units light up stating 5.1 or multi-channel, or DTS so you know it is encoded that way and playing.

To hear DTS soundtrack, and have light come on, you must choose the DTS track from the movie's menus, in the Audio Setup or Language areas. It will not automatically go to a DTS track. It should automatically go to the Dolby Digital 5.1 track though. If it doesn't, you should have a button somewhere or option, to choose Digital Auto. Then it will automatically go to the DD 5.1 track. You'll still need to choose the DTS track in movies.

Good luck! Keep us posted?
