Hello everyone and thank you for taking time out to help a rookie Modder out. First off I want to say ive been googling and searching this forum for 3 days trying to find help with my problem. Im wanting to buy a DMS4 S.E. Pro ModChip from http://www.mod-chip.com but I read something somewhere that it needs homebrew elfs to play backed up games. Is this true?? Does this mean I cant just burn a cd/dvd PS2 game and put it in and play it with just the modchip? I looked up elfs and got a little info. But I just want to be able to put in a copied game and play it ya know?? Can I just play any backed up game or is more modding needed? Its a pricy modchip and I just need re-assurance from someone. I have a version 9 and a new slim Ps2. Im moddind both with the same chip. Thx for helping me out everyone!

you don't need anything extra, you just solder the mod and play.

Ok then, thanks again for helping. So then, I wont need these "Elfs" at all right to just pop in a copy and play it right? And also, would it be a waste of money buying the pro over the light since I wont need these elfs to boot up my backups? Cause thats what the flash memory is for correct? All I want to do is copy a origional game and put it in and play it WITHOUT ANY EXTRA elfs or any other "software" needed. Sorry for all the questions.

the solderless 1 works just like the solder 1 (nothing else needed).

if all you want to do is play backups and won't use the extra features if a dms then may I suggest getting a duo2se for the v9 and save some money? unless money is no object then by all means do go for the dms.
