Hi, can you please help, I am using TDK 16x discs to burn and I have copied War of the Worlds and some others and somewhere along the line they seem to freeze, can you please tell me what to do about this... Can you really get a good copy ever of the film down onto DVD or is this really impossible?

I am using 1click and DVDFAB both great.

Thanks
Annie

i believe thats the problem. Those TDK discs arent the greatest.Use quality discs such as Taiyo Yudens ,Verbatims,Fujifilm made in japan ones only and Maxell's made in japans. Once you get quality media then burn at a slow speed like 4x. Sometimes not shrinking them enough too may cause freezing(burning too close to the edge of the blank discs capacity).

I'm having the very same problem (in fact it happened yesterday with my War of the Worlds DVD+R)...

I've been converting the AVIs using either WinAVI or xVid2DVD software, then burning them onto DVD-Rs using Nero. At first I put it down to the DVD media and changed both the drive to a BENQ-DW1640 and the media to Taiyo Yuden DVD+Rs (my old drive would not support booktyping to DVD-ROM).

Usually I know something is going to go wrong because I start getting boxing/jitters on the playback and I put this down to scratches or dirt on the disc, but last night it got to a point about 90mins into the film and then stopped dead. Kept going back a chapter, fast forward to that point and it stops again.

I moved the DVD to my laptop and successfully played the rest of the film (albeit on a smaller screen without 5.1 sound).

Is this something to do with the discs, the encoding or does my Sony DVP735S player have a problem ???

Well guys what do I know.

Anyway I purchased the 1click dvd as I said, and somewhere last night I read in one of the forums that if you put a tick in the box that says DVD-R SAO first, you should have a problem.

And guess what! I did it again and they have all been fine.. I don't know what that means, but it works!

Silly blonde me, I forgot to say, with 1click DVD you get free software called CopyToDVD SE and that is where you configure it.

heh! I too have that problem. It does it's thing all good. Then I go to watch it and towards the end of the movie it starts to freeze/skip/suk :( . And of course the best part of the movie is towards the end (AAARGGGG!!). So you are not alone. Someone told me that disc quality does matter and also burn speed (4x is best) and also setting your disc space to 4300 to avoid burning close to the edge also helps too. Goodluck. If I find out anything else i'll let you know.
