ok first of all!!
MODCHIPS
Modchips are Little chips that trick the PS2 into thinking that a Copied game is an original, other words it takes of copyright Protection.
If you want one of these, you have to buy them they are about £20 - £120 (£120 ones are really good,they will do better things...), if you want to solder the chip in your self then buy internal chips.
These require a soldering iron, and you have to work on the mother board (inside PS2) this is dangerous and could mess your PS2 up.
Unless your good at electronics (a proffesional) then do it.
If you want a thing that doesn't need no soldering, buy Swapmagic and slide tool.. or Fliptop with slide tool, this requires no soldering its just a CD/DVD and a piece of equipment that just fits in your expansion bay of your PS2 (i think)
In my opinion, get the Swapmagic and slidetool.... this will do no harm to your PS2...
Copying
If you want to copy games, you need:-
DVD Disc - never get Imation, Pound store DVD DISCS stuff like that will mess your PS2 Laser up! The best one is Ritek Grade "A" DVD Discs! and TDK, SONY, MAXWELL, BOSCH all good companies!
DVD Decrypter - get this program from http://www.freecodecs.com/download/DVD_Decrypter.htm
After getting these 2 things do this:-
Open DVD Decrypter, Insert your PS2 Disc (the one you wish to copy) inside your DVD drive, then click MODE>ISO>READ.
Click the little folder button and choose where to put the READ PS2 Image file.
Then Click the BIG BUTTON at the bottom and let it READ your PS2 game............ it will make two files, .BIN file and .MDS file....
this will take some time................
Then once it has finished READING, goto MODE>ISO>WRITE, insert your Blank DVD Disc, inside your DVD Burner and set the Write Speed to 1X (warning do not go over this limit, it could give your game some errors while playing! if you cant go lower than 1X, try to keep the lowest you can!)
click the little folder and click on the .BIN file of the PS2 Image the DVD Decrypter made....(sometimes the DVD Decrypter will say "you should of chose the .MDS file, this time ill do it for you." (so it will choose the .MDS file.... but otherwise dont choose the .MDS file only .BIN) then click The big button at the bottom and let it burn... this will take sometime! so relax...
after the game has finished stick your game in your PS2 and start playing!
if you want Swapmagic, it costs about £20, get from www.ebay.co.uk (United Kingdom Version) or www.ebay.com (united states version)
and you can get the slide tool for about £2.50 from same place!
