ok, all i can say is wtf.
if the ps3 does not have slots for the older cards yet it is backwards compatable, does this mean we have to replay all of our games we worked so hard on? so wtf? any solutions?

PS3 can use memory sticks, but how would you plug it into de PS2 to Transfer data from the 8MB unit? I believe the only solution is to use a USB flash drive. It's true you need Codebreaker or AR Max to transfer data from your 8MB memory card to a flash drive, but we know the PS3 will have more than enough USB ports. The only drawback might be that Sony will probably protect those ports in order to prevent people from hacking the console and to prevent people from using their flash drives and motivate sales of their Memory Stick Duo.

but they have to be over-analized in order to post something on that site. plus the main design is what it is and will never change.

Im sure that they will have some kind of adapter for the old memory stick. Unlike MS they will pry include it in with the PS3. If MS had this problem they woud pry charge about 90 dollars for the adapter

look at it like this
ps1 memory stick
ps1 portable (crap version) (memory stick)
ps2 memory stick(8mb)
ps3 (more than likely memory stick)
IF SONY DOSEN"T USE THE OLD MEMORY CARDS ANYMORE THEN IT WOULD RUIN BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY
currently have these consoles
Gamecube
Xbox
Ps2
Dreamcast
Phantom
Gba

That's right. But you should consider that the amount of people that will use the PS3 for playing old games after paying at least $400 for it is going to be very small. Sony know this, and that's why I believe they may not include a memory card slot or adapter. If my memory doesn't betray me I remember reading that the PS3 will use Memory Stick Duo for game saves, wich makes a lot of sence since it would increase the interactivity between PS3 and PSP.

As far as I remember you could store PSX game saves in an 8MB PS2 memory card but you could not use the saves out of the PS2 unit, you needed to transfer back to a PSX unit. If the memory cards are completely replaced by a memory stick duo I guess we would only need the memory stick and the old memory cards could be discarded. That would be nice, as long as there is a way to transfer the data from the memory cards to the memory stick duo.

Cant you just use usb cords to transfer stuff to ps3/computer, then transfer to ps3 Hardrive?
Anyways, i cant w8 to play some old ps2 and psx games on the ps3. The graphics are goign to be better because it uses an emulator to emulate these games. It would render the pixels better. Those who have a snes emulator should know that. When you change the emulator graphics, supermario 3 will be soo better looking. LOL
