PS2 stopped detecting hard drive

I have a v9 PS2 with swap magic and a flip top lid. I have been using hdloader.elf with the memory card exploit and a maxtor HDD. Everything worked perfectly and I was able to install and play games from the HDD until my roomate left Tiger Woods 06 playing form the hard drive overnight. When I went to save and exit it in the morning it froze while saving to the memory card. All the saves are fine but when I run HDLoader.elf it says it doesn't detect a hard drive. I've even tried installing a new HDD and it won't detect that either. I have also tried using the hdloader CD and It still doesn't detect a hard drive. I am a bit perplexed because my ps2 detected the HDD once and now it doesn't. Could it be aproblem with my Network adapter or the netwprk adapter port in my PS2?

erm have you tried everythin to try and fix it akk i can say is that ya lens has gone so u need to buy a new 1.
I have all consoles and Hand held consoles from 1988 to 2007.

Hi,
I had a simular problem a while back, when i installed a hard drive in my ps2 everything was working fine until my ps2 couldnt detect my network card & my hard drive, i came to the conclusion that the port at the rear of the ps2 which the network card connects to is faulty as i have been plugging & unplugging the network card on a number of occasions and didnt screw it in properly.
firstly my advice to you would be to check to see if the network card works online ok, if theres no luck i would try asking someone you know, to test your network card & hard drive into their ps2.
The outcome will confirm if its your network card thats faulty or the rear port of your ps2.

I am having the same problem with a 160 GB maxtor drive brand new. HD advance won't detect the drive. New network adaptor also. What could be the problem?

Hd advance doesn't detect some hard drives.
ps3 with 20gb hard drive
xbox 360 premium edtion with vga/hd hook up to my dell 20.1 inch widescreen lcd.
White and black 1.5 psp's
I'll take this down WHEN micro$oft decides to stop being lazy and make the capcom fighting games backwards compatible with the 360 dammit!!!

Hi,
Make sure your hard drive has been partitioned by NTFS file system first and then formatted.
Also check to see if the hard drive is set to the master jumper at the rear of it otherwise you will have problems detecting it.
A recent problem i had was when i booted up HDAdvance, it said this drive needs formatting. so i formatted it installed a game but there was no game installed. After i restarted the PS2 the same thing occured.I look around the web for a bit and found a solution that worked for me, apparantly you got to put the hard drive into your hands and try to move it around / tapping it, some how it makes the insides work??? i dunno but it did work for me.

I put this harddrive into a friends PS2 and it worked, but not in mine. I can get online with my network adapter, so its not that. What is the deal?

I too have this problem. I had two Seagate HDs working for a month. Then, out of nowhere, BOTH HD Loader CD and HDLoader.elf couldn't detect my HDs. I thought my network adapter was faulty so I switched it out with a new one and it still gave me the problem.
How can I fix the port on the back of the PS2? Thanks

My fix: Make your roommate pay for a new ps2, harddrive and whatever else. Problem solved!!!

ya that pretty much happend to me too. i use hdd advanced 2.0 and i was burning a game when i accidentally dissconnected the power and now when i load up hdd advanced it cant detect the hdd. also since it was left on over night some of the parts might have shorted out seeing as how a ps2 left on over night get really hot.
