Ditto....I had no trouble with Four Brothers, Exorcism of Emily Rose, Rebound, Cry Wolf, or Creep. I was able to back up a copy of each (Full Movie) using DVD43 and Nero Recode2 burned to both +R & -R SONY 8x(at 8x speed)DVD blank media(MIT). I encountered no black screen encryption on any of these. All (In my opion) were good movies. An excellent turn out for free software.

members, the only reason you have no problem with these movies is the copies are made from inside a cinema !!!!!!

No Sir, It's called early release at the local mom & pop video sales & rental. I don't do bootlegg or downloads(poor picture, poor sound, poor play i.e. trash)and if your experienced at doing this you might know that those movies are not encrypted? If you look around in your area you just might find a store like this one (Most don't advertise). Please tame that green eyed monster. They'll all be out Tuesday 2005 (In the US).:)

Yes, there are problems copying the new versions released by Sony. I was able to copy it with AnyDVD and Clone but I think Sony has found a new way to fight copying.
The copy plays but audio doesn't match movie. It plays the movie and the audio is for special effects. This was my second try. First try to copy with menus and deleted out stuff I didn't want. That copy wouldn't play in my player and CloneDVD gave error "Error copying files" but copied and burned before it gave that error.
Second try, I just copied the movie and audio didn't match the movie. I have sent email to slysoft of this problem with new Sony releases.

Am trying to copy Brothers Grimm, Cry Wolf, Emily Rose. I have DVDFab Decrypter, DVD43, DVD Shrink. I was bable to back up Brothers Grimm with DVD Fab but DVD Shrink wouldn't burn it. Tried DVD Shrink with DVD43 and got an error message. Reauthored by taking just the main movie, but lost the first 11 minutes a la Madagascar--which I still haven't copied. Cry Wolf look like more of the same, but when I extracted the main movie, I seem to have gotten it all. Am about to try Emily Rose.
Also, I tried to backup Disney Treasures and got a file which needed more compression and DVD Shrink wouldn't let me even in custom ratio. I know I did this once before on Ten Commandments, but that was a previous version of DVD Shrink.
Any suggestions?

This is what you to do.
**NOTE: this is for those that have tried AnyDVD, DVDFAB Decrypter or DVD43 or other methods, and it has failed only.
Here's the method I used and it works 100%, yes... you hear me, a full disc GUARANTEE to work. If you do as follow, then you DON'T/WON'T even see that "annoying FBI Warning" as well, I blank that sh!t out too.
I ripped it with DVD Decrypter via Mode, File F successfully. Then use VobBlanker to "blank" out PGC #2 from VTS_01_*.VOB and PGC #1 --> #5 of VTS_02_*.VOB, then PROCESS went smoothly. Encoded with Nero Recode 2, and burned with Nero Burning Rom easily.
For those that can not backup "The Brothers Grimm". I don't know, but I'm guessing there's some sort of bad sectors or encrypted protection (something very similar to Macrovision's RipGuard).
**Tools need: DVD Decrypter, VobBlanker and DVD Shrink or Nero Recode 2 (your choice of preference). Here's what you need to do:
** get free VobBlanker here http://members.aol.com/posunplugged/jsoto/VobBlanker_2010_exe.zip
**NOTE: before ripping the movie with DVD Decrypter, go to your C: drive or Hard drive, make a folder name NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM and make a sub-folder name VIDEO_TS inside "NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM", then Exit out.
1) rip the movie with DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F into your hard drive. Once it's completed, exit out.
2) open up VobBlanker: (A) set your "input = source" this is your files that was ripped by DVD Decrypter earlier. (B) set your "output = destination"<-- browse to your hard drive and look for NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM, VIDEO_TS, click Open/OK
3) (A) click on VTS_01_*.VOB, now "BLANK" out PGC #2 on the bottom window. (B) click on VTS_02_*.VOB, now "BLANK" out PGC #1, PGC #2, PGC #3, PGC #4 and PGC #5. (C) Once these are marked BLANK, click "PROCESS". That's it.... now sit tight and wait for VobBlanker to process and filter out all those junks until it's completed. VobBlanker should take somewhere like 10 - 15 minutes only.
4) open up DVD Shrink, click Open Files, browse to your newly created folder NEW_BROTHERS GRIMM, VIDEO_TS and perform your usual steps of shrinking. That's it.... easy as sippin' on some Hennessey.
Good luck... happy burning!! Teach and learn.

thank you so much for your post on how to back up the brothers grimm with vobblanker. It worked great. I have a question though for future backups, such as the great raid. How do you know which files are bad and need to be deleted. I downloaded pgcedit, but im not very computer savvy and i do not understand how that is supposed to tell me which files are bad.
thanks for future input =)

You're welcome, you're welcome. Glad I could help you to make a successfully working disc now. For more info on "The Great Raid", go here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/273848 (it works with the method or PROCESS #2 I provided in there).
***NOTE: I have not done "The Great Raid" yet, so I can't tell you which PGCs or VTS to "BLANK" out. However, it should work still even if you just "PROCESS" the VIDEO_TS file.
It's simple, all you need to do is set your "input"<--- where your previously ripped files by either DVD Decrypter or DVDFAB Decrypter, "output" <--- your new folder that you're going to shrink/encode or transcode with DVD Shrink or Nero Recode (your choice of preference). Then click "PROCESS", sit back and relax until VobBlanker completed the process.
Now just open up DVD Shrink and click "OPEN Files" and go from there as your usual shrinking process. That's it.
**NOTE: you'll need to rip the movie with either DVD Decrypter via MODE, File F, or DVDFAB Decrypter before you diagnose with PgcEdit.
In query to which PGCs/TTN or VTS_XX_*VOB to blank out, you'll need to run through PgcEdit and it will tell you which VTS is most likely (suspicious) of having bad sectors or bad protected sectors (usually is encrypted by Macrovision's RipGuard or Sony's ARccOS). Then you make a *good note*, and run it through VobBlanker, then you edit/preview it, and BLANK that junk out, if it's NOT any movie files related at all (most likely will be less than a minute will be junks). In addition, when you preview/edit, you can "cut or blank" that annoying FBI Warning sign as well.
Good luck and happy burning!!!!!

@mousedawn - give DVDFab Decrypter (free) a try - DVDIdle.com/free.htm" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://www.DVDIdle.com/free.htm
it should rip entire disc to hard drive then you should be able to use Shrink from there..
