Having trouble with my movie and need some advice. Have a movie on a Rhino disc (don't laugh but it's Monkees--Head) that Shrink works with everything but stops at 96% and says encrypted sector.
If I turn on AnyDVD with Shrink it gets to the same sector but stops with the cyclical redundancy error. DVDFab decrypter tied up. DVD decrypter would't make an .ISO, it tied up at the same spot. DVD Decrypter wouldn't work in file mode, but it did show a 75kb .BUP file that looks suspicious at the end of the film that I believe to be bad. Any suggestions?

Most likely a bad disc. Try cleaning it otherwise, it may be a bad pressing.

Have cleaned it, I thought it was bad but the shrink errors changed depending if I had AnyDVD on or not so I figured the error would be consistant. There is a bad scratch on the outermost edge, where discs read and write last.

I think you answered you own question. A cyclic redundency check error can include many things, such as dirty, smudged, imperfect, or in your case a scratched disc.

Thanks for the assurances. Like I said, the only thing that had me questioning wether it was the damage or not was the differing error messages with Shrink. I have a connection at the local video store so maybe I'll take it in and have them use the super sand blaster disc cleaner.

First, make sure that you want that part of the disc. Usually this will be some type of Preview, extra feature or something like that. I have never heard of your DVD, but check it out. It will not be worth fixing a scratch for $2, if all you are fixing is a preview that will not rip.

Use IFOEdit to figure out which Title the last VTS is part of. Open VIDEO_TS.IFO. Then play the movie and use your DVD player's "Display" or similar button to select the title. See what it is and decide if you want to spend $2 fixing it.

Do not try to test playback in IFOEdit of an original (encrypted) DVD, because it will not play it and cause a problem that will require a restart of your PC.
