I have a problem. I have recently had my homevideos put onto a dvd. I would like to make a copy so that I don't have to worry about something happening to the orignial. However, when I put my dvd into my computer, the computer doesn't even acknowledge that I just put a dvd in there, and when I search for it, it doesn't show that their is a dvd in my drive at all. I have burned movie dvds before, and I figured that homevideo dvds would be the same. Can anyone help me. I don't know if this matters but the top of the dvd is compltely blank. It doesn't have a brand name or it at all. Thanks

Does it still work in your regular DVD player?

The blank top shouldn't be a worry, it just means it unbranded. I buy Taiyo Yuden like that from Supermediastore.com. But I still want to know what that media is. DL a prog like DVD Identifier or DVDinfopro, run it, and give me the MID code. If your comp won't even recognize it's there then it's probably empty. flip it over and tell me if you see a diff colored circle on the bottom of it, you could also just put it in a DVD player.

Yes, it does work in my dvd player, but I wanted to make a copy of it since it is a homevideo.

I'll try the program, I'm guessing if I just goolgle DVD Identifier or DVDinforpro they will just come up? You asked about a diff colred circle on bottom of it. The back is just the regular purple color, and then it has the darker violet circles on the inside and outside rim. There is info on it, becuse I have watched it on my dvd, however, I really wanted to make a copy.

I will try those programs.

All programs that I mentioned above are available for download here at AD via software tab at top of screen.

I thought you said that you put the BACK UP in and it wouldn't recognize it. I'm sorry.

You most likely have a firmware issue with your DVD drive. Can you post the model of drive and the firmware version?

If you know what I am talking about you can do it here:

http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_search.php

If you are unsure, post your model and we can lookup the latest firmware for you.

Cheers.

sorry I am not sure what you mean by model. The dvd has nothing on it, except for in the center of the dvd, in very small letters it does have : R8X DD19. That's all I can find. If you meant model of software I am using then I have tried to use: DVD Platinum, DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter.

Thanks.

I have tried the Dvd Identifier but when I try to identify it, it says this

[09:48:37] DVD Identifier V4.2.0
